What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that focuses on prevention and rehabilitation of injury, disability or disease. Physiotherapists are regulated by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Physiotherapy treatment may include stretching and strengthening exercise prescription, manual therapy, education and activity modification. Modalities that may be used during treatment include shockwave therapy, or TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation).

Physiotherapy at The Functional Approach

At The Functional Approach, our Physiotherapists utilize exercise and movement to help you achieve your healthcare and fitness goals. Our Physiotherapists are trained to work with people of all ages and skill levels, and will create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Whether you are rehabilitating an injury, preparing for a surgery or looking for general exercise/preventative advice, our team is here for you.

At your physiotherapy appointment, your Physiotherapist will learn about your medical history, and perform a comprehensive assessment. They will then communicate your diagnosis and explain the detailed treatment plan that they have created for you. You will also be prescribed a course of exercise, and learn about any assistive devices that you may need.
